οι επιτήδειοι έχουν καταφέρει να πωλήσουν τις μετοχές που κατέχουν όταν η τιμή έχει φθάσει στα ύψη

cunning people ? managed to sell the shares they possessed when the price was very high

Yes, that's my point, whereas 'οι επιτήδειοι' has a negative meaning (see examples above).

Yes, we do!

Perhaps artful/cunning traders would be better because unscrupulous traders is a bit strong and accusatory (?)

(We don't want to be charged with libel/slander, do we?;-)!)

That's why I used quotation marks. Of course they have a positive meaning. Positive can be turned to negative in no time, though. Nevertheless I see your point.
Haven't got a better suggestion at this point. :(
I'll agree with artful/cunning traders. Think it sounds good.
