]Continuing the tradition that started last year (where the forum revenue was split equally between the two global moderators), and in times of financial hardship, we extend this year the number of users who will be rewarded for their contribution to the forum.
The user evaluation is subjective as we do not use an automated revenue sharing script, and it is largely based on the quality and quantity of terminology help provided on the forum during the year 2008. The emphasis is on people who have not benefited in other ways from the forum and good citizenship is a prerequisite as the message we want to convey is that excellence of the mind should be rewarded only when it comes with excellence of conduct.
However, this is not a typical revenue sharing procedure as the full revenue is shared amongst users (without retaining any part for the costs of running the site and other hosting, programming and administration costs as well as the time and effort required by the administrator). Moreover, to the best of my knowledge, translatum forum is the only forum (and the only web site) in Greece, as well as one of the few in the world, which shares the ad revenue with its users (whereas similar international web sites not only abstain from rewarding outstanding users for their contribution, but also charge them membership fees).
The total amount to be given out to users is 860 euro (about 1200 USD) and last year it was about 900 euro (about 1400 USD given the exchange rates back then). Revenue sharing table
