Title: Trying to figure out the meaning of numbers in Milan Žepić's Latin English dictionary
Post by: spiros on 26 Dec, 2020, 22:10:03
Clearly, they are not for different meanings as some lemmas just have 3 for example.

abnuo ab-nuo, ui, uiturus, 3. migom odbiti, uskratiti, odricati
aboleo ab-oleo, evi, itum, 2. uništiti, zatrti, istrijebiti
abolesco ab-olesco, evi, –, 3. nestati; iščeznuti
abominor ab-ominor, 1. željeti da prođe zlo znamenje; ne željeti; proklinjati

Right.  Latin has 4 verb conjugations, based on the stem vowel:  a, as in portare, is #1;  long ē, as in monēre, is #2; short ě, as in ducěre, is #3;  and i, as in audire, is #4.  Feel free to ask more questions.
