Title: machine translation for ancient Greek
Post by: mothermelania on 31 Jul, 2006, 22:56:45
Hello.  Are there currently any Ancient Greek translation aids available?
My particular interest is patristic Greek, but I will also need access to
pre-Christian medical, legal, and philosophical texts.

I want to do word searches on terms relating to insanity, but my Greek is
still very poor.  And so, I would find a translation aid very helpful in
order to go through the texts and decide which ones are worth translating
and which ones aren't.  I have tried using the translator on 'World Lingo' but it doesn't seem to be able to translate the majority of the words.

Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Nope, no machine translation for Ancient Greek; as you can imagine, there is not enough commercial interest to fund the development of such a system, given that Ancient Greek is a defunct language.
