PowerToys add fun and functionality to the Windows experience. What are they? PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released.

Note: We take great care to ensure that PowerToys work as they should, but they are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only.

Important: If you installed PowerToys prior to April 23, 2002, you must uninstall your old PowerToys before installing the versions available here.
PowerToys only work with U.S. English regional settings.

Open Command Window Here

This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders, giving you a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at the selected folder.

Alt-Tab Replacement

With this PowerToy, in addition to seeing the icon of the application window you are switching to, you will also see a preview of the page. This helps particularly when multiple sessions of an application are open.

Tweak UI

This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more.

Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003.

Power Calculator

With this PowerToy you can graph and evaluate functions as well as perform many different types of conversions.

This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

Taskbar Magnifier

Use this PowerToy to magnify part of the screen from the taskbar.

Webcam Timershot

This PowerToy lets you take pictures at specified time intervals from a Webcam connected to your computer and save them to a location that you designate.

H βελτιστοποίηση ενός λειτουργικού συστήματος ή ενός λογισμικού με τη χρήση ρυθμίσεων που δεν είναι άμεσα διαθέσιμες στον χρήστη ονομάζεται tweaking. Ήδη από την εποχή των Windows XP, οι χρήστες του δημοφιλούς λειτουργικού της Microsoft μπορούσαν να ενεργοποιήσουν το GodMode*, έναν ειδικό φάκελο στον οποίο υπήρχαν συγκεντρωμένες όλες οι ρυθμίσεις των Windows, ενώ εφαρμογές όπως το TweakUI, το Customiser God και το ultimate Windows Tweaker προσφέρουν τη δυνατότητα ειδικών ρυθμίσεων σε όσους τις εγκαταστήσουν.

Πρόσφατα, η Microsoft ανακοίνωσε τη διάθεση μιας ανάλογης εφαρμογής, των Microsoft Power Toys, τα οποία μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε από το App Store των Windows 10. Ας δούμε ποιες δυνατότητες μας δίνουν:

— Always On Top: Ορίστε ποια παράθυρα δεν θα επικαλύπτονται από άλλα παράθυρα, ωστόσο θα παραμένουν πάντοτε ενεργά.
— Awake: Παρακάμψτε προσωρινά (ή μονίμως) το σχέδιο παροχής ενέργειας (power plan) του υπολογιστή σας, ώστε να μην του επιτρέψετε να κλείσει έπειτα από κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα.
— Color Picker: Δείτε το χρώμα οποιουδήποτε pixel της οθόνης σας σε τιμή Hex, RGB, CMYK αλλά και σε άλλα χρωματικά συστήματα.
— Fancy Zones: Χωρίστε σε περιοχές την επιφάνεια εργασίας σας. Αν σύρετε ένα παράθυρο σε μια περιοχή, το παράθυρο προσαρμόζεται αμέσως στο μέγεθος της περιοχής. Πολύ χρήσιμη δυνατότητα για όσους θέλουν όσο δουλεύουν να βλέπουν δύο, τρία ή περισσότερα παράθυρα ταυτόχρονα στην οθόνη τους.
— File Explorer: Προσθέστε στην Εξερεύνηση Αρχείων (File Explorer) τη δυνατότητα προεπισκόπησης αρχείων .pdf, svg, .md κ.ά.
— Image Resizer: Αλλάξτε το μέγεθος μιας εικόνας με ένα δεξί κλικ. Υποστηρίζει προ-ορισμένα μεγέθη (π.χ. Phone 320Χ568 pixels), αλλά μπορείτε να προσθέσετε και τα δικά σας μεγέθη. Αποθηκεύει τη νέα εικόνα σε .bmp, .jpeg, .gif, .tiff και άλλα μορφότυπα εικόνας.
— Keyboard Manager: Αλλάξτε τη λειτουργία των πλήκτρων του πληκτρολογίου σας, αντιστοιχίζοντας σε αυτά χαρακτήρες (π.χ. πατώντας το F1 να μπαίνει άνω τελεία) ή συντομεύσεις πληκτρολογίου (π.χ. πατώντας το F1 να ενεργοποιείτε τη συντόμευση Alt+Ctrl+Del).
— Mouse Utilities: Ενεργοποιήστε τη χρωματική επισήμανση κάθε σημείου της οθόνης στο οποίο κάνετε κλικ, αλλά και την επισήμανση του σημείου στο οποίο βρίσκετε ο κέρσορας με διπλό πάτημα του Ctrl.
— Power Rename: Μετονομάστε μαζικά όσα αρχεία έχετε επιλέξει, χρησιμοποιώντας Εύρεση και Αντικατάσταση.
— PowerToys Run: Ξεκινήστε οποιαδήποτε εφαρμογή θέλετε γράφοντας το όνομά της!
— Shortcut Guide: Εμφανίστε ένα παράθυρο με διάφορες χρήσιμες συντομεύσεις πληκτρολογίου των Windows.
— Video Conferencing Mute: Ορίστε μια συντόμευση πληκτρολογίου που θα κλείνει αμέσως το μικρόφωνο και την κάμερά σας, ασχέτως της εφαρμογής τηλεδιασκέψεων που χρησιμοποιείτε εκείνη τη στιγμή (Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams κ.λπ.).
