This one, for example, should be: ΩΦΕΛΟΥΜΕΝ ΥΠΗΡΕΤΙΔΕΣ. We are of service as maidservants? Doesn't sound right to me. (I mean the English does, but the Greek still doesn't look right.)

  • The word is not enough...
ΩΦΣΛΥΟΜΕΝ ΥΠΗΡΣΤΙΔΕΣ

ΩΦΕΛΥΟΜΕΝ ΥΠΗΡΕΤΙΔΕΣ
I think this is the correct spelling.
Still, it would help us a lot to know the context.

Dinomachi, this -Y- in the first word makes no sense. The original verb is ωφελέω → ωφελώ so Nick is right to say that the correct form should be ΩΦΕΛΟΥΜΕΝ.

You're right, wings!
I saw Nick's post this morning.
I couldn't make sense of it either.
So does anyone have any idea what it refers to?
I'm puzzled.

I suppose it is bad Greek, written by someone who had access to a dictionary and went for υπηρέτιδες rather than, say, θεραπαινίδες. In the same way that they used πόνησιν for 'toil'.
