Following a number of issues we had to deal with during the past 20-30 days (including slow performance,
DDoS attacks and others), and the fact that numerous different settings we have been experimenting with did not provide a solution, a
forum upgrade and a server upgrade are due.
The forum upgrade is scheduled for 18:00-20:00 tonight (Greek time - GMT +3), to the latest stable version of the forum. As there has been a great number of code modifications regarding both the aesthetics and functionality of the forum, there will be some time until these are reimplemented for the new version. So, things will be different. Of course, there is no guarantee that this will be a smooth upgrade, and potential problems may cause unforeseen downtime.
A server upgrade is also scheduled over the next few days. We are moving to a server running
Apache 2.2,
Php 5.2.4, with
40 GB SCSI drive space and
1560 KB RAM. This migration might also be the cause of problems and instability. They will be dealt with if and when they appear. It is all done for the best with a view to long-term stability and performance.
A short notice will be added to this topic a few minutes before the forum is moved to maintenance mode.
You are advised to post any urgent terminology queries now.
