Barn's burnt down—
now
I can see the moon.

Alternate translation 1

The barn has burnt
Now I see the moon.

Alternate translation 2

Since my house burned down
I now own a better view
of the rising moon

Από τότε μου κάηκε
το σπίτι μου
το φεγγάρι αναδύεται
περίλαμπρο

Κάηκε το σπίτι—
τώρα
φαίνεται το φεγγάρι

Κάηκε το σπίτι—
τώρα
βλέπω το φεγγάρι

Κάηκε το σπίτι
—να!—
το φεγγάρι

Masahide's Death Poem

while I walk on
the moon keeps pace beside me:
friend in the water
