This is one in a series of nicknames for prostitutes in Suetonius' (ca. 100 CE) fragmentary
Terms of Abuse
(Περὶ βλασφημιῶν) 2.22. Suetonius attributes this term to Hipponax of Ephesus, iambic satirist of the 6th cent. BCE (fr. 135).
Τί δέ τις; Τί δ' οὔ τις; Σκιᾶς ὄναρ ἄνθρωπος.
