Word count with Trados and with Word

Try counting the words in this document with Trados and with Word.

You will see very different results as there are words which by Word are interpreted as run-together words (i.e. 2 or more words interpreted as one) whereas Trados can see that they are not one as they have internal tags.

Indeed, this can cause misunderstandings.

From my experience, translation agencies rely more on trados word count (as they also need to count repetitions and fuzzy matches). On which word count do you (and the other members of this forum) rely?

When it comes to localization, you have no choice usually, as you are presented with a Trados log :)
For non localization jobs, Word is fine, that is as long as you have no text boxes, etc.

In that case, the Word add-in CompleteWordCount does the job.

Καλησπέρα,

Λύστε μια απορία γιατί θα τρελαθώ σήμερα.

Μετράω τις λέξεις ενός rtf με Trados>Analyse και τις βγάζω 14.248 και τις μετράει και ο πελάτης στο ίδιο rtf με Trados και τις βγάζει 14.022.
Πώς γίνεται αυτό;;;;;
