The reason is because
Merge is used in
Wordfast Pro in order to merge files that have
already been split from one larger file.
If you need to merge
different files into one, then the way to go is to use
Extract Frequents and in
Extract segments that occur at least, enter 1.
This is indeed not very intuitive at all but that is how it works. Also, in order to get the source files updated after this process, one needs apply the TM to the files (i.e. it is not possible to "restore" the extract frequents files to the original files).
There is one problem with that, if, for example, one TU is translated differently in different context of these files. For example, in Greek "More" can have different translations depending on the gender of what "more" refers to.
