«Αξία» στη μουσική είναι «value» (το έχω πετύχει να το αποδίδουν λανθασμένα αδαείς περί των μουσικών ως «τιμή της νότας». Η νότα λοιπόν δεν έχει τιμή, είναι ανεκτίμητη). Παρεστιγμένη αξία είναι dotted value. Παρεστιγμένη νότα είναι dotted note. Μια παρεστιγμένη αξία μπορεί να μπει σε νότα ή σε παύση (dotted rest - παρεστιγμένη παύση).
 
In music notation, a note value indicates the relative duration of a note, using the texture or shape of the note head, the presence or absence of a stem, and the presence or absence of flags/beams/hooks/tails.
