Subtitle Workshop: "not a valid video file" error

Προσπαθώ να ανοίξω μία ταινία στο SW, αλλά μου βγάζει σφάλμα "… is not a valid video file". Αυτό το κάνει για όλους του τύπους βίντεο (mp4, avi, mkv) και στις δύο εκδόσεις του προγράμματος (2.51 και 6b).
Έχω εγκαταστήσει το K-Lite mega/full, αλλά τίποτα.

Έχει κανείς καμιά πρόταση;

Εδώ: The Subtitle Workshop Manual λέει το εξής:
    Click the "File/Load subtitle" menu.
    A dialog will pop up, you have to select the right filter in it (there is a combo box where you see the "All supported files" text, you have to click the button with the arrow that is next to it and select the format of the file).
    Once you have done this, press the Open button in the dialog.

To load a video file simply click the "Movie/Open" menu or press the [Ctrl]+[P] keys. If you get the "File is not a valid video file" error message, make sure you have the right codecs installed. If you don't, download Coda Codec Pack, it should fix most of the playback problems.

Δυστυχώς τίποτα.
Δεν ανοίγει απολύτως τίποτα, ούτε υπότιτλους ούτε την ταινία. Σε κάποια φάση κάτι έγινε, αλλά δεν μπορούσα να αποθηκεύσω τους υπότιτλους και η ταινία είχε μόνο ήχο.

Δε νομίζω να φταίει που είναι σε Virtual Machine, γιατί παλιότερα δούλευε μια χαρά.

Κατέβασες τα codec;

Ναι. Δοκίμασα και με το K-Lite και με το Coda που μου πρότεινες. Κάτι άλλο φαίνεται να παίζει.

Αν έχεις άλλο υπολογιστή δοκίμασε κι εκεί.
