προσωπική διαφοράpersonal  difference
View of The fiscal effect of the recalculation of main old-age pensions stemming from L. 4387/2016

Personal difference, as the difference between the total pension amount according to the old and new rules.
Personal differences that correspond to pensions with lower pension amount according to the new rules are fully or partially eliminated in 2019. Pension cut cannot exceed 18% of the pension paid (calculated according to the old rules). The remaining personal differences are compensated with future pension indexation starting from 2023 onwards. Personal differences that correspond to pensions with higher pension amount according to the new rules are granted in 5 installments starting from 2019 onwards

Pensions’ recalculations («προσωπική διαφορά»)

In 2019 main pensions were recalculated according to the provisions of law 4387/2016, which established a two-tier pension benefit (national pension + contributory part)
A ‘personal difference’ was calculated for all pensioners (i.e. the difference between the new and the old pension amount)
In case of resulting negative personal differences, no pension reduction was made; in the case of positive personal difference, 1/5 of it is added every year (until 2023) to the old pension amount
