ἠνορέη (ēnoreē) → manhood

Hi, apparently this is Homeric and means "manhood"; I only have it's English transliteration. What's the word in Greek and do we know anything about it's etymology?

Well, there's ἠνορέη (Doric ἀνορέα), epic/poetic word for "manhood."  But "-enorée" doesn't look like an English transliteration;  it looks more like the French version of an ending on a Greek personal name:  -ενωρεία?  -ενοραῖα?  Where did you find it, Alex?

Snell, Poetry and Society, pp. 36. "Homer has a word for "manhood" which means manly courage: enorée". The first e in enorée is marked as a long vowel -I don't know how to type an e like that.

I don't know how to type an e like that.

Neither do I.  So I have to select "e + macron" from Character Map (a tool you can activate from Windows), copy, and paste.  Snell should have used a macron on both first and last "e"s:  ēnoréē.

So we have "ἠνορέη". Any ideas about its etymology? Any other words with the same root?

Ἀνήρ, for one.  Or ἀγ-ήνωρ, "very manly."
