Since ἔρδων is not a verb, but a participle (nom. sing. masc.), the translation "does" won't work.  In Pindar, Nemean 7.12, the actual verb is τύχῃ (aorist 3rd pers. sing. subjunctive), with ἔρδων modifying its subject.  Unfortunately for us, that verb is easily confused with the dative singular of the noun τὐχη.  So the Pindar-passage is translated literally, "If some doer (τις ἔρδων) is lucky (τύχῃ)," i.e. "if one is fortunate in his activity ..."
