For those of you scared to use Studio because you have heard that Studio cannot give you unclean files, fear no more! All you have to do is:

1.Create a project using the default criteria
2. Translate as usual
3. When done go to the project, right click and choose "Export files".

This will export in the same folder where the project resides (default is the "My documents > SDL Studio > Projects) the files in their native format as well as the sdxliff that Trados uses.

Thanks for the tip—added on the index

Another way if the above fails:

Open the file you want to save as ttx in Studio Editor.
Click Shift + F12 .
A Select file type dialog box will be displayed.
Select TRADOStag Document and click OK.

Deliver bilingual TTXs and cleaned translated files from Word files

Obtain the original Word file and convert it to a TTX in SDL Trados 2007 Suite.
Translate the TTX in SDL Trados Studio 2009.
With the file open in the Editor view, select Save Target As… from the File menu and then click Original File to create a clean Word file.
In the Projects view, right-click your project, select Batch Tasks and then Finalize to create a bilingual TTX.
This compatibility procedure disables the real-time preview feature in SDL Trados Studio 2009, but you can still preview your file in Word at any time while translating by clicking the View Target button on the Preview toolbar.

For non-Office files for which you do not have the originating program (or when you cannot obtain an original file, just a TTX), just translate the provided TTX. However, you will only be able to preview the file in Internet Explorer.
