Two ventricular premature complexes in a row. This can be a normal finding, but is more suggestive of electrical heart disease than are single ventricular premature complexes.

Ventricular couplets are when the lower chambers of the heart take over & beat rapidly. if your heart beats in ventricular mode for more than 3 beats, it becomes none sustained ventricular tachycardia, but if it beats in this abnormal mode for longer than 30 seconds then it becomes sustained ventricular tachycardia. You are just experiencing ectopic beats which are very common & very harmless. Ventricular tachycardias that becomes sustained, generally are harmful, particularly in people with heart disease.

Bigeminy contrasts with couplets, a similar irregular heart rhythm. While bigeminy is the pairing of a standard and irregular beat, a couplet is a pairing of two irregular beats. A couplet can consist of any type of unusual beat, as long as they occur consecutively.

Έκτακτες κοιλιακές συστολές
Εάν εμφανιστεί ένα έκτακτο ερέθισμα, προερχόμενο από τις κοιλίες, που διεγείρει την καρδιά πριν το αναμενόμενο φυσιολογικό ερέθισμα του φλεβοκόμβου, τότε  η διέγερση αυτή της καρδιάς ονομάζεται έκτακτη (πρόωρη) κοιλιακή συστολή.
Οι έκτακτες αυτές μπορεί να είναι αραιές η συχνές. Εάν εμφανίζεται συνεχεία μια φυσιολογική συστολή και μια έκτακτη μιλάμε για διδυμία, δυο φυσιολογικές και μια έκτακτη για τριδυμία.
Εάν εμφανίζονται δυο μαζί για ζεύγος, από τρεις και πάνω μαζί για ριπή κοιλιακής ταχυκαρδίας. Οι ριπές συνήθως προαναγγέλλουν την αποδιοργάνωση των κοιλιών την και την πιθανή έναρξη κοιλιακής ταχυκαρδίας.

Συνεπώς, το bigeminy παραμένει ορθώς διδυμία, το couplet φαίνεται να είναι το ζεύγος και το triplet ριπή κοιλιακής ταχυκαρδίας.
