Hiya,

I want to form a new word to reflect the point in evolutionary history when a specific type of psychological trauma first appeared.

I've thought of prefixing the word 'trauma' with either archaeo (as in archaeozoology) or archae (as in archaebacteria), but I'm not sure which one to use. Can anyone help, please?

If this topic is more suitable to another forum (or even website!), then please let me know.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated :)

Dear John,

I would like to commend you on the fine term you coined. The word archaeotrauma (with the linking vowel or interfix -o-) would stand very well as a neoclassical compound (a learned compound with greek and/or latin elements), absolutely appropriate for the designation you mentioned.

Best regards.
