Athena Andreadis is a London-based singer/songwriter. Totally devoted to her art and effortlessly bridging her English and Greek backgrounds, London-born Athena combines an early passion for the songs and poetry of Greece with elements of jazz, folk, contemporary and classical music, evolving an English songwriting style that is unmistakably her own.

Her quartet with acoustic guitarist Werner Kristiansen, double bass player Tom Mason and percussionist Ben Bryant gels perfectly, each a virtuoso but sensitive to the spaces which allow Athena's unique music to breathe.

"Pretty Things" is the #5 track from Athena's debut album Breath With Me.

Athena - Pretty Things

So she sets by herself by the window
Looking out she can only look in
Her reflection is so sad
It shows the years that she already had

Wrapped all in a scheme and his treasures
She is a trophy he likes to display
Though she glitters she is cold
An empty vessel to have and to hold

She closes her eyes thinks of pretty things, pretty things
She knows what she likes but she's not really there
A beautiful prize pretty things, pretty things
She flutters her eyes like butterfly wings

In the spring of their love he was different
Had a spark in his rich brown eyes
But as summer turned to fall
It brought the rain and the end of it all

Just like her mother she is caught in a circle
Familiar turns but it's hard to get out
Breaking chains will break her heart
A simple plan sealed by fate from the start

She closes her eyes thinks of pretty things, pretty things
She knows what she likes but she's not really there
A beautiful prize pretty things, pretty things
She clappers her eyes like butterfly wings

She closes her eyes thinks of pretty things, pretty things
She knows what she likes but she's not really there
A beautiful prize pretty things, pretty things
She flutters her eyes like butterfly wings
