Hello all. School stuff again. :-p

Here's the excerpt:

Ο εν λόγω ρυθμός χαρακτηρίζεται από ένα είδος κηλιδωτής διακόσμησης, με αποχρώσεις που κυμαίνονται από το μελανό έως το ερυθρό ή και το ωχρό.

Any idea on what the word in bold letters might be in English? I couldn't find it in my dictionary. :-)

Κηλίδα is spot, stain. I believe κηλιδωτή διακόσμηση would be translated as stained decoration, but I would need to look further into that.

Nick, thanks a whole lot for the help. I can grasp the context now! Further ahead, on the next page, the author says: "Σε άλλες περιπτώσεις, το αποτέλεσμα μοιάζει περισσότερο τυχαίο, αφού τα περιγράμματα των κηλίδων είναι συγκεχυμένα και ασαφή." He's talking about the "Ρυθμός Βασιλικής".
