My father-in-law says this phrase, in Greek, quite often...
(kinda like we say "I see said the Blind man, to his deaf dog..."),
 and I would like to know how it's written and said!

Judging from the response, there are not many around who are familiar with this saying. I think you'll be better off if you ask your father-in-law to write it down for you. And we'd greatly appreciate it if you then posted it here for us.

I suppose a straight translation would be: Γι' αυτό δεν ήπιε ο γάιδαρος το νερό;! (Gi' afto den ipie o gaidaros to nero? Is that what it sounds like?)
