υπ' αυξ. αριθμ. (υπ' αύξοντα αριθμό) -> (under) serial number (S/N)

Goodmorning,

Can someone help with the exact translation of the abbreviation "υπ'. αυξ. αριθμ." normally seen on certificates etc.

Is there an online abbreviation index available?

Regards

Chris

Under serial number (S/N)

You could leave out the "under", in many contexts.  το υπ' αριθμόν 1 πρόβλημα = the number one problem.  I suspect that in the context of certificates you might also be able to leave it out.
But how shall men meditate in that, which they cannot understand? How shall they understand that which is kept close in an unknown tongue?

Sorry, I should have been clearer: what I said also applies to "serial number".  If you are asking for the word-for-word meaning, then "under" is ok; in context however it would normally not be translated.   A lot of Google hits for "under serial number xxxxx" seem to mean "με αύξοντα αριθμόν χχχχχ"

I agree with Philip. you could leave out the "under". Could you tell us the exact phrase?
