The Velvet Underground was an American rock band first active from 1965 to 1970 (and 1970 to 1973 in a different incarnation). Its best-known members were Lou Reed and John Cale. Although never commercially successful while together, the Velvet Underground are often cited by critics as one of the most important and influential groups of their era. A famous remark, often attributed to British musician Brian Eno, is that while only a few thousand people bought the first Velvet Underground record upon its release, almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band.[2] Their sound influenced many later musicians in many genres, including experimental, punk, post-punk, new wave, and gothic rock.

I can live everywhere in the world, but it must be near an airport -and a pharmacy, I would add.

Δεν είναι ο ύπνος της λογικής που γεννάει τέρατα, αλλά ο άγρυπνος ορθολογισμός που πάσχει από αϋπνίες.

Venus in Furs

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Clubs and bells, your servant, don’t forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

Downy sins of streetlight fancies
Chase the costumes she shall wear
Ermine furs adorn the imperious
Severin, severin awaits you there

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

Kiss the boot of shiny, shiny leather
Shiny leather in the dark
Tongue of thongs, the belt that does await you
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

Severin, severin, speak so slightly
Severin, down on your bended knee
Taste the whip, in love not given lightly
Taste the whip, now plead for me

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Severin, your servant comes in bells, please don’t forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

Stephanie says

Stephanie says that she wants to know
Why she’s given half her life, to people she hates now
Stephanie says when answering the phone
What country shall I say is calling from across the world

But she’s not afraid to die, the people all call her Alaska
Between worlds so the people ask her ’cause it’s all in her mind
It’s all in her mind

Stephanie says that she wants to know
Why it is though she’s the door she can’t be the room

Stephanie says but doesn’t hang up the phone
What sea shell she is calling from across the world

But she’s not afraid to die, the people all cal her Alaska
Between worlds so the people ask her ’cause it’s all in her mind
It’s all in her mind

She asks you is it good or bad
It’s such an icy feeling it’s so cold in Alaska,
It’s so cold in alaska, it’s so cold in Alaska
Ο λόγος είναι μεγάλη ανάγκη της ψυχής. (Γιώργος Ιωάννου)

Beginning to See the Light

Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Some people work very hard,
But still they never get it right.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Now I’m beginning to see the light.

Wine in the morning
And some breakfast at night.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Here we go again
Playing the fool again.
Here we go again
Acting hard again.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Now I’m beginning to see the light.

Well I’m beginning to see the light.
I’m beginning to see the light.
I wore my teeth in my hands
So I could mess the hair of the night
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Hey I’m beginning to see the light.
I met myself in a dream
And I just wanna tell you - everything was alright
I’m beginning to see the light.
Here comes two of you,
Which one will you chose?
One is black, one is blue.
Don’t look just what to do.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Now I’m beginning to see the light.

Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
Some people work very hard
But still they never get it right
Well I’m beginning to see the light.
There are problems in these times
But none of them are mine
Baby, I’m beginning to see the light.
Here we go again,
I thought that you were my friend.
Here we go again,
I thought that you were my friend.
How does it feel to be loved?
How does it feel to be loved?
Ο λόγος είναι μεγάλη ανάγκη της ψυχής. (Γιώργος Ιωάννου)

All Tomorrow's Parties

And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
A hand-me-down dress from who knows where
To all tomorrow's parties
And where will she go and what shall she do
When midnight comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
Why silks and linens of yesterday's gowns
To all tomorrow's parties
And what will she do with Thursday's rags When Monday comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
For Thursday's child is Sunday's clown
For whom none will go mourning
A blackened shroud, a hand-me-down gown
Of rags and silks, a costume
Fit for one who sits and cries
For all tomorrow's parties
Ο λόγος είναι μεγάλη ανάγκη της ψυχής. (Γιώργος Ιωάννου)
