τὸ δανείζεσθαι τῆς ἐσχάτης ἀφροσύνης καὶ μαλακίας ἐστίν -> being in debt is a mark of extreme folly and moral weakness (Plutarch, "On Avoiding Debt" 829F3)

Plutarch, De vitando aere alieno 829f:   
ἀλλ' ἐνδεικνύμενον τοῖς προχείρως δανειζομένοις, ὅσην ἔχει τὸ πρᾶγμα αἰσχύνην καὶ ἀνελευθερίαν καὶ ὅτι τὸ δανείζεσθαι τῆς ἐσχάτης ἀφροσύνης καὶ μαλακίας ἐστίν.
"It's obvious, for those who readily get themselves into debt, how much shame and servility attaches itself to the practice;  it's obvious that being in debt is a mark of extreme folly and moral weakness."
