Sophocles, Oedipus Tyrannus 1529f.: Mηδέν' ὀλβίζειν, πρὶν ἂν τέρμα τοῦ βίου περάσῃ μηδὲν ἀλγεινὸν παθών.  Literally, "Don't call anyone happy until he's passed the goalpost of his life, having suffered no pain."
