How can I tell that τῶν γε διδασϰάλων is the teachers rather than the teachings?
"Teachings" would be quite a different word: either διδασκαλία (teaching) or τὰ διδασκόμενα (the things being taught). Their genitives would be τῆς διδασκαλίας or τῶν διδασκομένων. Anyhow, "the sufferings of the teaching" sounds a little absurd, don't you think?
And by the way, again, note that πάθη is
plural, not singular.
