Either form is potentially correct, since the poets could always break up the diphthong εὐ into a disyllabic ἐΰ (or even ἠΰ) for metrical purposes, e.g. to form a dactyl.  LSJ is (at the very least) unhelpful here because we don't know which "Maximus" (of at least 5) they're referring to, and the online ref. link is a dead end.  Probably εὔσμηκτος should be the primary entry.
