An Evening of dialogue awaits the audience on September 4th in ABOUT: in
Athens: Caspar Frantz and Johannes CS Frank who initiated the Festival Zeitkunst, a festival for contemporary literature and chamber music, will join forces with the Greek poet Dimitris Lyacos to perform a selection of contemporary literature and bring them into dialogue with chamber music.
The readings will be held in Greek, English, German, and Hebrew and will be intertwined with music with four different styles. Zeitkunst presents a successful example for the staging of an interdisciplinary synthesis of chamber music and contemporary literature. The Festival ‘ZEITKUNST’ first took place at the Villa Elisabeth in Berlin in November 2009.
CASPAR FRANTZ Born in 1980, Caspar Frantz received his first piano lessons at the age of seven. Further studies took him to Rostock as a pupil of Matthias Kirschnereit. He is currently studying with Eberhard Feltz at the Hanns Eisler Academy for Music in Berlin. Collaboration with pianists such as Renate Kretschmar-Fischer and Elisabeth Leonskaja as well as master-classes with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Maria João Pires and György Kurtag have had a strong impact on his artistic development.
Since his début at the Rheingau Music Festival, Caspar Frantz has performed throughout the world and at numerous festivals, including the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Festspiele in Schwetzingen, Ravinia Festival, the Schwarzwald Festival, and the Beethovenfest in Bonn. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Kiel Philharmonic, Rostock, Stralsund, the Iasi State Philharmonic Orchestra of Moldova, Polish Chamber Orchestra and the New Phiharmonic Westphalia. He was awarded first prize at the German Jugend Musiziert, and he is also winner of the Mendelssohn award 2006, the Premio Vittorio Gui 2006 and the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb 2006. He held scholarships from the Marie-Luise-Imbusch-Stiftung and the Deutscher Stiftung Musikleben, with the Carl-Heinz Illies Award, and is currently a fellow of the Villa Musica and the Horst-Rahe Foundation, Rostock.
Together with his duo partner, the cellist Julian Arp, and the bilingual writer Johannes CS Frank, Caspar Frantz initiated the Festival Zeitkunst in 2009. He is a founding member of the Ensemble Zeitkunst with whom he toured through Israel in 2010.
