Epictetus, Dissertationes ab Arriano digestae 1.17.12.3, ascribes ‘ἀρχὴ παιδεύσεως ἡ τῶν ὀνομάτων ἐπίσκεψις’ to Socrates.  Your text ἀρχὴ σοφίας ("the beginning of wisdom") seems to come from the Septuagint, Proverbs 9:10 ἀρχὴ σοφίας φόβος Κυρίου.  Is it a scribal error for ἀρχὴ παιδεύσεως ("the beginning of education")?
