Hi. Considering these examples:
1. Κάντε το πριν φύγετε
2. Κάντε το μετά που φύγετε
(3. Κάντε το μετά φύγετε)
.. do the conjunctions 'πριν' & 'μετά', when followed by a verb, always require the dependent/(subjunctive) form of that verb, or do the sentences 'Κάντε το πριν φεύγετε' or 'Κάντε το μετά που φεύγετε' have any meaning at all? (I am assuming that in the third sentence, missing the word 'που', 'φύγετε' is the imperative form, i.e. 'Do it and then leave').
What other conjunctions also impose the dependent form of a verb? ''Αν', for instance - αν έρθω: 'if I come'. I just assumed that the hypothetical nature of the sentence dictated the use of the dependent/subjunctive, like in English: 'if I came'/'if I were to come'? But there's no hypothetical implication in examples 1 & 2, at the top. Again, does the sentence 'αν έρχομαι' have any meaning at all? Sounds odd to me, but I don't have a perfect ear for these things of course - I guess you need to be a native speaker for that...
Or 'όταν φτάσεις'... κτλ..κτλ.. ('όταν φτάνεις' ???)
Many thanks,
Martin
